I usually get Xanax for flight anxiety, but my new doctor gave me vistaril. I don't have a drug problem and don't have anxiety other then while flying. Is this medication going to work as well? And if not would it be bad if I went back in and just asked for xanax instead?

Vistaril is indicated in the treatment of anxiety. It is in a different class of drugs as Xanax. Xanax is considered a benzodiazapene where as Vistraril does not really belong to a specific group. They both work to treat anxiety. You probably won't know how effective it is until you take it in an anxious situation.
