you've probably heard it before but you just have to confront the situation - meds dont solve the underlying problem.
I have had SAD my whole life and was on atleast 6 different meds over four years.
That whole time I rarely went anywhere. Stopped taking them, FORCED myself to confront scary social situations and improved slowly. You dont want to have to rely on a tablet your whole life just to function in social situations.
