A good therapist will get you to tell her or him about how you experience anxiety. When you feel that way, what kind of symptoms you have, etc. The therapist will probably ask you a number of questions to help her/him understand your experience. You may be asked to fill out questionnaires, but that doesn't always happen. Once the therapist has the information that is needed, the therapist will help you learn strategies to reduce and control your anxiety. These are usually very specific techniques that are tailored to your experience. Don't be surprised if you get some homework. The therapist will likely want you to practise what you learn during the therapy sessions. It will probably seem strange at first, but anxiety is a problem which responds really well to therapy. Good luck!
