My mom has been complaining of severe heartburn for some time now. She tried finding out what it was and thought it was a heart attack or something. Today she went to the hospital with my oldest brother. On her computer there was a google search for heart racing. She's in her 50s, a smoker, and overweight. Any idea what is wrong? I can't sit hear and not do anything...

Being a smoker and overweight could be 90% of her problem. Smoking does contribute to heart disease as well as being overweight.

I completely understand you. My mother also has heart problem (high pressure).

I don't think looking around the net trying to speculate as to what is wrong with your mother is going to help.

Wait for her to come back and you'll know.

People here could give you some "diagnostics" but I doubt it would be very accurate considering how little information there is.

Try not to panic. It's probably just GERD. Heartburn and GERD both produce symptoms that may feel as if the paerson is having a heart attack. Also, she could be having trouble with her gallbladder. It also could be anxiety that's causing her heart to race and chest pain. So, try not to worry. I know that's easier said than done, but try.
