If you suspect you are having a heart attack, simply taking it with water is the best means. However, for those who are prone to heart attacks, one must talk to their doctor about starting a planned cycle of taking the medicne everyday to build up a natural amount of asprin in the body. The commercials, ect, that boast about asprin helping heart attack patients are refering to those who are on a planned cycle of taking asprin everyday to help REDUCE the risk of heart attack by stopping it before it takes hold in the body.as always, talk to your doctor first, however, as it can be potentialy dangerous to use the druge for long periods of time. For those patients who are unable to swollow due to an advanced state of cardiac arrest, then IV means are used, and by this time you should be in a hospital anyway.

Aspirin will not stop a heart attack in progress, but it probably doesn't hurt to take one, as long as you also seek medical attention at the same time. This is very important! This is how people die from heart attacks! They brush it off as no big deal & don't get the medical help they need right away. If you aren't sure, just remember that it's better to be safe than sorry! If you want the aspirin to get into your system faster, crushed will be faster than capsule, coated, or uncoated. However, either way, it will not work fast enough to prevent a heart attack if you're already having the heart attack! At the hospital, they can give you nitroglycerin which they can put under your tongue & let it dissolve and be absorbed through your mouth. It works fast & is effective. Afterwards they might give you high-dose aspirin or some other drug to prevent any more heart attacks immediately after. And once you're stabilized, your regular doctor might prescribe a baby aspirin, which I think is in the range of 71-82 mg. This would be a drug that you take every day to help decrease the risk of heart attacks. It is preventative but not curative, if that makes any sense. It helps prevent future heart attacks, but if you're already having a heart attack it's too late for aspirin to take effect & you would be better off seeking medical attention & getting that nitroglycerin in your system.
