Default Diastole and Systole

I checked my heart using a self-check machine recently, and had a very high diastole and systole, on a hypertension level 2 category. But my pulse rate is normal.
I have never experience such high dias and sys. Are there any lifestyle factors that can affect it on temporarily ? How about exercise and eating ? Does the values differ when you wake up, in the afternoon and night ?
Also, all the while, I thought pulse rate should correlate with diastole and systole.

Default Re: Diastole and Systole

Hi...

Diastole is when the heart dilates (relaxes). Diastolic pressure is the pressure in the arteries during diastole (this number is on the bottom of the blood pressure measurement).

Systole is when the heart contracts. Systolic pressure is the pressure in teh arteries during systole (this number is on the top of the blood pressure measurement).

When blood leaves the heart (from the left ventricle) to go to the body it enters the aorta....
