Default Can dyeing your hair for years cause hair loss?

I have dyed my own hair for a few years (using the store bought stuff). I am just noticing a small patch becoming thinner. My "part" has also become wider and thinner. I also have a job that requires me to tie my hair back. Does the salon dye really make a difference in hair health? I am scared that I will not be able to grow it back...HELP!!!!!!!!!
