Default Why is my daschund going bald?!?!?

I have a 14 month old mini-daschund. He has been slowly going bald for a while now. Top of head and ears, along his back thighs, chest, under side of neck, upper forelegs. He has no other symptoms. He is otherwise healthy, eats, drinks, plays. He is very nervous. He has the "shaking thing" going on. (like chiwahwahs) Doesn't like strangers, hates it when we leave the house without him. I have taken him to the vet to address this problem. The only thing she could come up with is hypothyroidism (he was on the low side of normal) and prescribed thyro-tabs. It's been a month and no change for the better just a little more bald. I was wondering if any one had any ideas that I could bring to the vet next time I go in. Could it be food allergies?? He is on Science diet. Could it be stress? NO, it is not ringworm or mange. Any help would be very much appreciated.
I just want to say thank you to all the people who have answered so far. Your answers have been VERY helpful.
